This is a great example of a classic small combo amp with great tone - the Premier Twin-8. Premier amps were made in New York by the Multivox Corp in the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. They have an incredibly cool aestheitc with multi-coloured knobs, a cool font and often colorful coverings. They are quite similar to Fender amps of their time, but for some reason they haven’t achieved the same mythic reputation (or the price tag!) Premier’s are fairly low-powered, which means they aren’t an ideal gigging amp for large clubs, but do they ever deliver incredible tone! I love these amps and own a few of them. The tones are fat and very adaptable for use with pedals. If you don’t need a ton of volume, either for at-home playing, smaller club gigs, or what I love then for, which is studio work, these amps are a gem in the vintage market. The Twin-8 came in a few different circuits over the years, and this one reminds me of a tweed Princeton. The tremolo is really cool too!
