Steve Dawson is an award-winning Canadian guitarist, songwriter, pedal steel player, producer and engineer living and working in Nashville, TN. Steve’s recording career began in 1998 with the Juno Award-winning instrumental duo Zubot & Dawson and has gone on to include an extensive list of production, mixing and musician credits in the decades since. Steve spent the years leading up to the pandemic on the road playing guitar, pedal steel, Weissenborn, banjo and dobro with Allison Russell’s band Birds of Chicago, and Canadian powerhouse Matt Andersen. Steve currently plays on sessions, produces records, and tours regularly as a solo artist or with a band, at venues and festivals around the world.

He has produced, engineered and mixed over 100 albums for many artists (including 7 Juno Award-winning albums and 17 nominations), and continues to work as a freelance musician, supporting artists both on stage and in the studio. Known for his fingerstyle, steel guitar and slide guitar work, Steve has carved out a niche as a distinctive and engaging solo artist.

Steve is also the creator of the Music Makers and Soul Shakers podcast, now in its ninth year with over 175 episodes. During 2020, he recorded enough material for three solo albums, all released throughout 2022 and 2023. He continues to produce, engineer and mix albums for other artists, and tour solo or with his band — or whoever else asks him along for the ride.
